![]() ![]() In the browsers for XV & Zoom Browser, the camera is simply absent. I just find it odd that neither it nor XnView can see the camera, when Explorer shows it.īoth XV's & Zoom Browser's "internal" file browser show everything that an Explorer window shows, EXCEPT the camera listing, which appears in Explorer after all the letter drives. Could be corrupted or even needs an update. I haven't used Zoom Browser in a long time - don't remember why. But of course, the camera is present & files can be transferred using (at least) MS Photo Gallery. Though MS Windows Photo Gallery sees / allows importing from the camera just fine, even Canon's image importing & manipulating app, "Zoom Browser," doesn't see the camera. That gives message, "No WIA device found." Makes sense, since it doesn't show the camera in its browser. No, can't access the camera via File > Acquire from Scanner or Camera. Again, don't know if the portable version is an issue.īut the "add to applications" part doesn't sound like that affects how XV itself behaves. No, "Add Xnview to applications for USB events" isn't checked (by default, AFAIK).īut when I tried checking it & saving (hit OK), when I go back in, the box is unchecked. Don't know if that's related to this issue. I assume from your reply that XV often can detect connected cameras & import images?Ī thought occurred - I'm using XV portable & storing settings in the. Nor can I figure out how to open * any * images in Media Detector even ones already saved to HDD. They just detected the camera, or at least could see the camera listed in Explorer.Īlso, not sure what all XV "Media Detector" does, but it doesn't detect my camera - if that's one of it's functions. I know the meaning of those terms, but honestly - the other apps I've used to import images from cameras didn't ask (so I never had to choose). I kept seeing questions asked of the OPs, in posts on problems w/ Xv "seeing" their camera, about: "what do your other photo handling apps use - Twain, WIA?" It's not a big deal if XV can't import directly from USB devices - just might eliminate a step. ![]() Or if the best way is import / save them onto the HDD first (Windows), then access with XV?īut XV's browser doesn't show my Canon camera that (at the same time) is listed in Explorer's own UI. Still wasn't clear if it's possible to import them directly from cameras into XV. If there are any differences I suggest just fixing the actual directories in windows rather than messing with trying to amend them in xnview.I read nearly a dozen posts on issues about XnView acquiring (or importing) images from digital cameras (several quite long). ![]() My suggestion is to open your catalog settings page in XN and then open a separate file explorer ensure that the catalogs directories perfectly match that of the ACTUAL files by navigation to them in the windows explorer. I ended up having to use windows to change the root directory of my external back after hours of re downloading XNview and attempting to reload and restore my database, in the process corrupting a good chunk of it before a realized how simple of an issue it was. Unfortunately (although im new so i may be mistaken) to my knowledge Xnview really really does not like trying to change the directory in program so its not as simple as opening your catalog and amending. Since xnview stores its own database files and icons it seems mostly okay, but tit cannot find your actual files so previews and actually attempting to open it will not work. For me i have mine on an external drive so one day when For whatever reason my pc thought that my external was a new device (likely some odd usb error) it changed the root directory to the drive from :E to :F. The issue has to do with the directory of the files. I had a very similar problem took me a good while to fix it. ![]()
